((Ooc: Hope you don't mind me coming in at such a late stage, I'm itching for a lion roleplay)) Cursico had grown slightly since his mother's death. He no longer felt her heavily in his heart. Yet that didn't mean he cared not for her, every thought of her still hurt, but it was fresh. Everytime he felt the need to cry, he just did it, not caring who was around or what he was doing. It was a bad thing to keep locked emotions, and he seemed to fear them, letting them rule him. The cub padded along to the water and drank from it. He hadn't eaten anything fresh in a while, everything had been scavenged... Speaking of which... His nose twiched and the small head shot up from the water. FOOD! He could smell it so clearly, to smell crazily sharp from the constant hunger in his stomach. And the included smell of lion, a smell he was too familiar with. So he didn't note the scent was fresh, he didn't note a bunch of lions were standing around. And he didn't note the food was still wanted. No, he just trotted straight up to it and tucked in, tearing neat little mouthfuls and swallowing them with some difficulty. Fresh meat he found, was harder to chew, the rotting meat normally went down easier, and with a horrible taste. This stuff was delicious, but wouldn't go down his throat... Still he chewed it, growling happily.

(sorry for the lateness, and the shortness)
She smiled at the fae, imediatly followed by a glare at her brother. "Thank you." Jafar trodded over to her brother, who turned around. "I'll show you where it's at, Jafar." Jafar turned back to the princess and nodded her thanks. When they arrived, there was another eating their meat. Iago growled softly, but loud enough for the other male to here him. "I don't believe you caught that..."

Cursico heard the sound of appoaching steps and froze in fear. Remembering those nasty lions that had tried to hurt him. At the sound of a growl he squeaked and cowered against the dead animal, just thinking that might soon be him. The familiar thumping in his chest had returned, the inability to take a breath consricting his body. Two gigantic lions were going to kill him, thats what they did, only mothers seemed to be less hostile. The words were unclear to him, even without his noise he would have struggled to understand. Yet Cursico was still sure the words weren't nice.

Jafar slowly walked toward the cowardly lion. "What is your name?" She asked this, not with anger. It had been unwatched but it was in a spot where it was obvious the lion who put it there wasn't finished eating it. She sun was setting and shadows lengthening and the other lion was small, she could easily devour him.

ooc: A quick reminder to have at least five lines.
Tari frowned slightly as the two siblings walked away toward wherever Iago had hidden the meal. Really, there was no need for that. It wasn't like she was going to steal it or something. But maybe Iago had just grown up in such a way-and in the end, it didn't really matter. Even when the others disappeared into the surrounding foliage, she kept her ears open for whatever might happen. Jafar seemed respectful enough, if not kind...but her brother was a different matter. Tari would never admit it to him, but she had never been too comfortable around males, never having had a good experience with them. Iago was no exception. But...maybe he was just stressed.
At the barely heard sound of a growl, Tari stiffened, perking her rounded ears expectantly. When no other sound was forthcoming, the youngest princess of the Akina frowned softly. Should she follow, just to see what was going on? It did not take long to come to a decision--she knew exactly what her mother would say. Stretching her legs a bit, Tari took off after Jafar and Iago. Whether she liked it or not, this was her duty, and she would fulfill it. Her slim form pushed through the brush, easily following the trail the two lions left. Breaking through into a more hidden area, the sight of Jafar and Iago met her eyes--along with a young cub cowering next to a carcass.
Barely managing to suppress her own snarl at Iago's growl, Tari immediately sprang toward the obviously frightened cub, instead shooting the older male an annoyed look. The poor thing was just a child! Even if she hadn't experienced being threatened by an older lion when she was young, Tari hoped she wouldn't have acted in that way. Perhaps that was the reason she felt such a desire to protect this cub. She knew, quite well, the terror this young one could be feeling. Hell--she had been pinned to the ground when something similar to this happened to her! Noticing that Jafar was speaking civilly to the child, Tari felt no anger toward her, and was grateful for her presence. It seemed she could at last control her brother.
Hearing Jafar's question, Tari quickly turned her attention back to the small one before her, putting a gentle smile on her face and nodding encouragingly. Hoping to give him a it of assurance, she spoke. I am Tari, little one.

Cursico heard more words. This time he made some effort to understand, then another lion jumped in and he squealed and cowered again. THREE LIONS! He could barely believe it. More words, he finally caught the vague meaning of them. "Cuh-cuh-cuh-Cursico" He stuttered, feeling so cold suddenly. Soothing tones were lost on him, he'd heard soothing tones from hyeenas for lords sake! When they wanted him to come out of the tree.

((Sorry))
Before the cub could reply, the princess was seen leaping throu the air, tackling the cub. It was apparent that she had heard the growl of Iago. Iago was of course mad, he was already irritated without a mangy little cub taking what wasn't his.
Cursico was the name that the cub, who looked scared at being surrounded by three older lions, one of which was angered, gave to the group. "My name is Jafar, Cursico." She had every reason to be irritated, a mangy little cub takes the food caught by Iago for Jafar, but she wasn't.

ooc: Tari didn't tackle him, but looking back my choice of words wasn't very good, was it?
Tari smiled gently upon hearing the cub's name. Cursico. I am glad to meet you. She then straightened, looking for an sign of the cubs family. What was a child this young doing out by himself? Seeing nothing and turning back to Cursico, Tari noticed that he still seemed scared, which really wasn't that unusual. She slid to the ground, splaying herself out on her belly so she was closer to his eye level and hopefully less threatening. Do not worry, little one. I will not hurt you...but where is your mother? Already, Tari was expecting the worse. Mothers did not just leave their cubs unprotected in another pride's lands--something drastic must have happened for Cursico to be left alone like this. As she waited, her ears flicked backward, wondering how Iago was taking this.

Cursico strained his ears, still scared to death but thought he had no choice. In his efforts, he heard the word 'Mother' and instantly felt worse, worse than the lions attacking him. Tears burnt his eyes. "Mother!" He cried aloud, voice scratchy because he said it so hard and fast. Without even realising it, be buried his head into the nearest lions fur, that was Tari. Tears instantly wetting her fur.

Jayvia
What kind of lion threatened a cub? thought Jayvia angrily. It had taken all her willpower not to attack the filthy brute, but she had control over herself and knew that attacking a full grown male would not result in much. She also an incredible hate towards the female, just for being with his sister. How much could the little tyke possibly eat, anyways?
But her anger disappeared when she heard Cursico's heartbreaking cry, and she instantly felt both surprised and motherly. His cry sounded old, so adult, like an ancient lion who had lost everything. Jayvia felt an overwhelming urge to hold the poor child close to her and protect him from all the evil in the world. Look at him, all alone, scared to death and shivering! She came over and nuzzled him as he cried into Tari's fur. "There, there, sweetheart," she cooed, trying to comfort the cub. Really she knew that her words would mean little to a cub who had lost his mother; some things couldn’t be kissed better. Still, it felt better to try then to sit back and do nothing.
ooc; sorry, I would have posted sooner if I knew Jayvia was involved in this thread. [/blockquote]

Iago rolled his eyes. A precious (sp?) little sight, disgusting. He hated these things.
Jafar slowly walked towards the cub and Tari. She had rarely spoken to cubs in her pride. She was high up, a senior warrior and diplmomat. She lead hunts and battles. In times of peace, she communicated, was the messanger, between here pride and other prides. She turned her head back to Iago, shooting him a glance. He rolled his eyes and layed down. He would wait for his sister.

Forcing herself not to take a step back in surprise, Tari stared down at the helpless cub in shock. The poor thing was heartbroken--that was easily seen--and even though she was most certainly not a mother, those instincts still kicked in and she bent to lick the top of his head, murmuring words of comfort. Although he had said nothing, it was obvious that something had happened to the young one's mother. Hearing Jayvia's soft words, the younger princess glanced up, shooting the lioness who she thought of as an aunt a worried look. She...had no idea what to do, and a part of her hoped that the older lioness would have some idea. Too young...Tari was much too young to take care of a child-at least, that's what she told herself. And though she knew her mother would welcome this cu with open arms, she did not know if it was right to ask such a thing of her mother. Gaze turning back to Cursico, a determined look came into her gold eyes. But if he had no family, she could not leave him to fend for himself.
Please little one, I need to know--are you alone? She purposefully avoided the word 'mother', not waning to make his tears start again. Hoping to make it easier for him, she continued, whispering softly in his ear. A simple shake of the head will do, if you do not wish to speak. As she spoke, her eyes fell on the sibling who were still silent. And what was she to do with them? Jafar seemed fine, and would hopefully keep her brother in check. Surely she could trust them long enough to find this cub's family--or at least a safe home--before returning to speak with them further about this matter of them being on Kinamasi lands. Perhaps...they wished to join? If that was the case, they may just have to bring it up themselves--she would not presume to know what the two wished.

Cursico stopped crying shortly, looking up and noticing the number of lions had grown. A shiver ran down his spine and he crouched close to Tari, using her for protection, nervously watching the male lion that didn't seem so glad to see him... But then again he had been eating their food, he couldn't have known. Cursico whimpered and looked up to Tari, hearing more words. The meaning went straight over his head, so he shook it from side to side. The movement could have been taken as an answer.

Jayvia
Poor creature! She watched him as he pushed himself closer to Tari, looking for protection. Someone needed to protect him if his mother wasn’t there. Jayvia nuzzled Cursico again, humming softly, trying to calm him. “It’s okay, it’s alright,” she cooed.
The little cub had nodded no, he wasn’t all alone, but Jayvia doubted his answer. Part of her thought hopefully, what if his mother had just gone off hunting and he had wandered away? No, she knew inside that wasn’t what happened. And besides, he looked like he had been out on his own for a while. Not very long – he was still alive, after all – but a little while. Jayvia wondered vaguely exactly how old Cursico was; how much could he talk?
Jayvia glanced up to catch Tari’s worried look and she shot a quick, reassuring smile back. Tari was still young and looked slightly lost, overwhelmed by the situation. She didn’t have all that much experience with cubs, as far as Jayvia knew, let alone orphaned cubs. She herself had never met an orphaned cub alone before, either, but she could handle it. Maybe she’d be able to take care of him, she though, and her heart leapt. She had no children. But we mustn’t get ahead of ourselves, she reminded herself. Instead, she spoke to Tari.
“I still don’t think this little guy has … has a family,” Jayvia said to Tari, choosing her words carefully. “Perhaps we should take him back to Kinamasi.”[/blockquote]

Cursico curled up. He felt emotionally drained and a lot calmer. So he simply sat there, half-buried in another's fur but not seeming to notice his surroundings. He watched Jayvia with indifference, as she was talking it somehow seemed polite. Cursico curled up tighter and promptly began to lick his paws when Jayvia stopped talking. Only in the back of his mind did he ponder of what would happen to him now.
