Verity had been searching for ages, as it seemed. But, alas, now she was at breaking point she'd reached the perfect place. A perfect place for what, I hear you ask? A perfect place to live of course! After looking she had finally found a good place to live. With golden eyes Verity surveyed the landscape. She had passed many other places so far, but this one seemed the best so far. The Marsh. She did not care for getting her paws wet or anything. This was just perfect. Perfect... god, she was saying that a lot now! Oh, but who cared? It was just a stupid word! Perfect.
The marshlands were not the prettiest of places, yet they catered for her needs. Just a stable home. And why was that so hard to come by nowadays? For all she knew, Verity could be in a pride now, safe. But probably in a place she wouldn't like. Not that Verity was picky. She just wanted to stay in a place she...well liked. Why was that so bad? Gazing thoughtfully down at her dappled paws Verity sighed. Everyone else she had met was happy with whatever pride. The smallest or the biggest. The scruffiest or the prettiest. Settling down for whatever came their way. Honestly!
To tell the truth, Verity was actually a sensible girl who never held grudges. But hardly anyone realized that. Most never even looked at her twice. Or once. Verity gave a snort. Everyone-and she meant everyone- she'd spoke too on her travels thought they were better than everyone else. When she knew all to well that they weren't. But who was she to say that? Nobody. But she knew. She knew that she wasn't the best. Or anyone else for that matter. Everyone should be treated the same. Except for rulers of course! Boy, would that make 'em angry!
Verity stretched her cub-spotted legs wearily. All she wanted to do was sleep. And sleep and sleep! But she couldn't do that! Not on some lands of a pride that she wasn't part of. No, it was just too dangerous. Better to be safe than sorry. That's what everyone had said in her home pride. Not that she missed them. Not at all! She was much better off without them. Much better off. Walking around to warm her up Verity roared her arrival. Her late arrival, more like!

Paws sunk lightly into the quickly drying mud, legs moving at a steady pace as Lothril nearly skipped through her home. Despite the coming of the dry season where little prey was to be found, and despite the arrival of a once lost king--the Queen was actually in quite a good mood. A wonderful mood, really. Newborn cubs--although the children of two she didn't care much for, at the moment--always created a feeling of joy within her. And though the aforementioned parents, Deimos and Nkira, were not at the top of her "Friend List," she was happy that they were so far keeping the Akina pride as their home. Though...she still need to speak to Deimos and learn of his entire story. A sharp frown creased the otherwise content face, before she pushed it away. In no way did she desire to ruin her good mood.
Approaching the outer edge of Kinamasi--for Lothril had the mind to visit Beseni--she caught sight of a lumbering herd of African Buffalo, contentedly munching on the marsh grass and wading through water. Freezing for a moment, rounded ears perked as her golden gaze studied them, hoping to find a lone, weak individual. After a few seconds of useless scanning, she concluded that there was nothing she could pick off on her own. Too bad--it had been awhile since she ate a full meal, and it would do the pride good to have such a moment together.
Slipping through the vegatation again, her movement stilled when a strange roar came to her ears. A nonthreatening, female roar. A sigh escaped her, glad to not have to deal with any ill-meaning intruders. Then the thought struck her--was this lioness searching for a pride? It filled her with joy, for it would be a third new member in a short span of time. Finally, after such a long time of staleness, Akina was growing. Thinking too fast--you don't even know what this one wants yet. But there was only one way to find out.
Moving once again, Lothril quickly came upon the new lioness. Lucky she was, to find Lothril in a good mood. It would be a more welcome arrival than others had been given. Legs stretched easily over the earth, keeping in plain sight all the while and only halting once she stood a few feet from the stranger. Smoothly shifting backward to rest her weight on her deep gold haunches, Lothril studied her carefully before speaking. I am Lothril, the Queen of the Akina. By entering our homeland, I assume you are looking for a pride?

Verity Verity had been lost in memories for a few moments when a noise startled her. A low grunt. Just like a Buffalo. After a sniff of the air she was proven right. No food for her yet;it was impossible to catch a buffalo alone. Letting a small sigh escape her lips Verity wished she was with somebody. But she wasn't. She was all alone. Alone. Still, she'd soon be in a pride if she acted right. But for now she was alone.
She was lounging in sweet memories when she was roused once more. Snapping open her eyes that had been momentarily closed Verity looked around. The noise was of footsteps moving across the mud. Unluckily the winds were not in her favour. Whipping her tail up she turned her head. There. It was a lioness, most probably the Queen. At least it wasn't the king!Although usually OK with males Verity couldn't face one right now.
As the lioness got closer Verity tried to think of what to say. Whatever she said sounded dumb. It was useless! She'd just have to think on the spur of the moment. Praying that it would work Verity tried to stay calm. She gave a nervous gulp when the Queen halted in front of her. As her hunches reached the ground Verity smiled. Verity had one last thought before the lioness spoke.
I am Lothril, the Queen of the Akina. By entering our homeland, I assume you are looking for a pride? Out of all those words only three appealed to her. Queen, Looking and Pride. Now she knew that the lioness, whose name seemed to be Lothril was the Queen. She certainly was looking and at least Lothril saw that! A Pride...How she wanted one so much!
Verity felt it was time to speak. Dipping her head respectfully at Lothril, Verity chose her words carefully. I am Verity, queen Lothril Best to start with a introduction. Indeed, I am looking for a home. I have seen the others around here but none appealed to me Letting herself breath before continuing Verity smiled slightly I decided the marshlands were the best place for me. Ending her speech Verity waited for the Queen to speak.

Giving a nod of her own at the lioness' dip of her head, rounded ears focused on the one who called herself Verity. An eyebrow raised slightly at her explanation of why she picked Akina as her pride--few found the marsh to be a welcoming home. At the sound of a bellowing buffalo, an ear swiveled around, but soon returned to its place. Of course, the large, tasty carcass of that particular prey often caused many to love a place more than they usually would.
Hot sun warming her back, she withheld a yawn--the sounds of Kinamasi always soothed her, especially in her peaceful state of mind. Briefly, she wondered how Chi was doing and if he had met Deimos yet. Despite the sorrow about him, she had no doubt he could hold his own against another--but she had no wish for the pride to erupt into violence.
Returning to the present, and the lioness before her, she became aware that Verity was waiting for her to speak. Then you are welcome here, and there is no need to address me in such a way. A soft smile crossed her face. Lothril will be fine. I am curious though--why does Akina appeal to you so much? Lothril was not searching for praise or anything of the sort--no, she just wondered why others wished to join.
ooc: Muse is low for Lothril at the moment.Sorry.

Verity smiled at the prospect of staying here. What she didn't-or did she?- expect was the question. How to answer, how to answer... Thinking hard Verity looked around. Why did she like it here? Well, she could answer that in her head but not out loud. But she must speak. Thank you...Lothril she finally spoke. But not enough. Bracing herself Verity spoke again I was brought up in a place like this. The marsh makes me feel like...I belong here It was stupid but the truth.
The sound of the marsh soothed her. It was home. Standing up Verity studied her surroundings closely. Nothing too fancy, or too plain. Indeed, she could not explain what it was. It was comfort to her. Excuse me for asking, but how many others have made the Akina their home? she needed to know. She was fine with big crowds but preferred small groups. Verity just liked peace and quiet more than hustle and bustle.
OOC: It's fine. My muse is low too. Well, I probably won't have a chance to post again, so Farewell! I'll be back next week!

Golden gaze rested on Verity as she spoke, taking all of what she said and every action she made. It was easy for Lothril to accept the lioness' explanation, for wasn't that similar to the reason she had chosen the marsh as the home of her pride to be? A small reminder of the home she had left when they had taken over. She kept a low growl to herself a the thought of those usurpers--it would not do to have her first meeting with a new member be interrupted by Lothril's memories.
A slight frown of concentration crossed the Queen's face at Verity's question. There are fourteen at the moment, including you and myself. However, unlike many prides, we are a loose group. Many weeks may pass before we some members again. She cast a quick glance toward Verity, watching her reaction. I hope that does not bother you?
