Tealver heaved into the oasis, perhapse coming to the desert wasn't such a good idea... Then again it would pay off when she gave birth to her cubs, there would be no dangers after all right?
Her paws heavily padded through the underbrush and into the shallow oasis, worry striking her face. "Will the water be enough? What about the prey?"she asked, looking back at her mate as she put herself down in the waters. She was enjoying the feeling of the soft flow and the shade of the trees as her silver and gold eyes watched him with keen interest.
Her multi colored golden pelt flickered softly as she cleaned out her paw and then proceded to catch a fish to eat.

Eddie walked back into his lands. Suali had been the place where he had spent his adolescence and he regretted the fact that his first litter would be born here instead of in Eiroka. But it was a better place to birth he supposed. He heard the lionesses question and answered it in a confident tone. "You kidding? This is the oasis! The prey may not be brilliant, but it passes frequently and there is loads of water. Besides, I can hunt in other places. My father has recently claimed Korongo, and the prey there is very easy to catch. Trust me, I've lived here my whole life." A charming smile lifted his black lips and his deep chocolate colored fur glinted with health in the sun. The wet season was still here, and Suali was the exact picture of an oasis. Plenty of water, soft grass, the nice trees...There was even a small den located far enough away from the main spring. Padding to his companion, his green eyes flickering, Ed watched her catching her fish. " What a pretty one you've managed to get yourself, Ed old boy... " Yes, what a pretty one indeed...

Tealver suddenly turned and pounced on Ed, her laughter ringing out as she nipped him on the haunches. she took off in a different direction, her swollen belly making little leway in the long grasses. "The land is perfect!" she replied as she launched into a small, shallow loasis of water and pushed her way through to the other side.
Her healthy, multi colored coat glistened as she pushed out of the waters, her paws hitting tough ground and a bit of sand that had stayed to far. She turned and crouched down low, her rump in the air as she made to jump at him when he came through.

" Play along, fool! Play along with it! She'll think somethings wrong! " Thought the male, angry at himself for not following immediately. Tealver seemed to have changed her mind about Suali then, that was good. No use worrying over things that needn't be worried about. He watched her disappear through the grass, and stopped. He needed time to think. His life was taking a very unpleasant turn right now, very unpleasant indeed...He was actually expected to show responsibility? To be a 'man'? Sorry, he thought, but I don't want to do that. " You can't let her down though! " His conscious bothered him. Eddie shoved it away. He could if he wanted to, and that was that. But did he really want to sever the connection he had made? He was going to be a father, wasn't he? Yes...He was. And there might be daughters. Daughters of his own that would look just like the one that had been snatched from him so unfairly. Little cavorting girls that might just share his own face, share the face of his mother. A new look entered his eyes. A little greedy, and with just a touch of lust.
A scheming glint entered his eyes and he knew what he had to do now. He would take his daughter, one for his very own, and show her how great Narati had been! Yes...But he couldn't let Tealver know. The woman obviously would not appreciate how amazing his mother had been, and would certainly not be as good as her when it came to child-raising. After the oldest of the daughters had been weaned, she would be his to train. He would give her the benefit of a strong father, one who actually followed through with his name. Truth had lied to him. Oedipus would teach his daughters how good his mother had been. How much he had loved her. And how much he had hated Truth. Ed knew he had to make it look as if nothing had happened. Shifting his facial expression back to calmly alert, ears pricked and tail twitching a little, the Prince moved fluidly through the grass. The itchy plant scratched at his dark, glistening pelt and he bit at it to leave him be. Yawning, and showing all of his teeth, Eddie gazed around in a bored fashion. Not concerned about anything. His eyes were the only thing that showed his previous thoughts, vivid green and alive with dancing flames.

Tealver, seeing his disinterest then a bored look glisten across his face, caused her to grow worried. 'Perhaps raising the cubs in such a place isn't a good idea... Maybe it is so well protected that it isn't protected at all...' she thought as she sat down next to her mate, her voice coming out in a drawled out purr.
Suddenly something came to her mind, thoughts emanating and ricocheting into the deepest crevices, causing a troubled look to come to her face. 'What if fate has twisted me a loop again? Its to good to be true... What if another lion steals a cub? What if another lion attacks? Will this lion be there to protect me? Or will he just leaveme to suffer a terrible fate.. or worse, leave the cubs to fend for themselves? I won't let anything happen to them... I will fight for their lives... Give up my own to protect them!' her mind muddled, finally coming up with a conclusion. A determined and hard look came over her face like a mask, a look that by god, she had had since she was just a cub.
She gave him a sly and clever look before she sauntered off through the bushes, her nose picking up the smallest scents as she sniffed out the territory line. Finding no opposing lions past the line she raised her muzzle, sniffing the air as well. Determination to find out what was bothering her conscience caused an almost angry expression to cross her face, such an expression that it could frighten a male lion in a seconds glance. Then determination to become the greatest mother possible came over her face, as well as a hint of fear.

A sigh was heaved. It made the dust fly in all directions, and the green eyes watched in growing disinterest as the particles settled. So small they were...So helpless. Dust could be crushed under a paw, but never truly destroyed. Or could it? How would you know if it was ever dead, or if ever it had lived? So small...So dainty. But together, the cloying things could kill a thing. Too many breaths of it would cause severe coughing, and then death by suffocation. And yet, without the curious material there would be no land. All that lived would be under water, or struggling to survive on magma. It would not be a pleasant thing at all. An ebony claw slid gently out of a pad, accompanied by a bored chuff. The peepers spotted the shape he had been searching for. The graceful, feminine curves and delightful patterned coat whose reflection dance in the glasses he always wore. A smile flickered on his features and the dust separated from it's family as his compact, close-knit toes moved it aside. The clouds above, so dissimilar from those surrounding his feet, shifted a little. The sun beat down harder, a difference that only one as observant as the prince could notice. A rumbling, well-oiled and well used purr rolled out of his thorax and filled the small space. They were enclosed in a small clearing, surrounded by the tall, slicing grass. Might be just what they needed...And the lady herself had found it. Moving regally toward the form that was stretched leasurely out on the ground. Cocking his handsome features at her, lifting a questioning eyebrow in the process. Her expression was hardened, determined. It was not becomely for a lady to all of a sudden find a great dislike in her husband. Well...They weren't exactly married. More like domestic partners. With children well on the way. Allowing his primed muscles to relax, he dropped his hindquarters in a sitting position next to his dame. Caressing her face with his tufted tail, and eyeing her sweetly, the dark faced youth turned his ears toward her as he saw her get up. The muscles calmed themselves even further and his front has fell in a graceful slump. Watching her carefully, and noticing how critical and sharp she was looking, the young man gave a soft, roaring yawn that echoed a little and dropped his head so it lie on his chocolate colored legs. Face fitted with a charming smile, he gazed at Tealver's tantalizing form as she moved off into the bushes. " Deary me, is darling on the move again...? " [/blockquote] not done sweetums. maybe tomorrow. trying a new style with Ed-o.

Tealver gave a good once over before returning to her mate's side. She released a low, lionish purr and lie down next to him, rubbing her head into his pelt and up under his jaw line in a sign of affection. But her eyes were always on the alert, on a never ending search for that one killer that was missing from the land.
"What are the main predators of this land?" she asked, her muscles tensed as she leaned into him. Her eyes spotted a movement in the bush and she was about to leap to her paws when a lizard scampered out and looked at her funny. She got to her paws, walking in stiff movements as she went to pin the lizard only to have it scamper away.
Using training she had learned in the mountains she pounced on the lizard again. The only problem was that she wasn't used to hunting in the desert but rather flat surfaces, she had missed her jump by what seemed like feet. The lizard seemed to laugh at her as it scampered away and into the bushes not far off.
Tealver huffed and returned to Ed's side, a disgusted look on her face. "Great now I have to relearn how to hunt for the third time." she said in a huff. The more she thought about these lands the more they became sour upon her tongue.

|ooc| : Post complete. Now you can post. It was unnerving. The wife seemed to be no more than a jitter-bug at times. " Hadn't we agreed on domestic partner...? " The thought strayed lazily in, and then lazily out of his mind. Titles had very little importance, after-all. If one was to say 'please, sir', but say it rudely, then it was not considered respectful. Not in his book, anyway. And, frankly, his book was a damn large one that was imposed on others whether they liked it or not. Flicking his eyes, hued to nearly florescent emerald, to stare at her in mild concern; the prince stayed where he was. Head resting on legs, which were elegantly throw over one another. They had grown more in the past months, as had the rest of his physique. The prince had grown muscular, defined and thicker. Even the small mane had managed to darken and grow out into a thick fan. Instead of a slightly deformed looking adolescent, he was now a handsome young man. His musings were interrupted by the voice of his mate. Picking up his head and smiling, his voice rumbled out in a clear baritone and his face seemed to be alive with concealed emotion as the words slipped out of his mouth with careless ease. "Main predators? Let's see...Myself, My father, and the one armed axe-man." A grin split his features, cheeky and as boyish as the laugh that followed.
The lean, darkly chiseled muscles tightened and he shifted his position. Shaking his head, he resisted the urge to leap after her and initiate a play fight. "Don't worry, darling, there are no leopards or hyenas here. Truth cleared them out when I was a cub, and we ate them for dinner. Trust me, I should remember the times. Nothing but the horrid meat for a month...Ugh." Passionate anger filled his voice. Carefully disdainful at the right times, and disgusted throughout the whole statement. Again, the strong urge to engage her in a comical conversation took him. But he didn't smile anymore. She was acting strange, his lady. Was she always like this, and was it simply he who had been blind to her nervous nature? Probably not. He didn't miss much, Oedipus, and that was mostly because of his mother's training. Pain entered his live gaze, and his glancing eyes strayed away. They sought an empty space. A place where he could stare and see nothing. No life, no death, no emotion, no turmoil or confusion. Not even a reflection of himself. The stare was cut off by a movement. Body twitching with an over sensitive danger sense, the royal son whipped his head around at the sound of a crash. A sigh of relief escaped his slightly parted jaws, and a small twinge of annoyance rippled through his being. Couldn't she keep still for a moment?!
The woman seemed to be always on the move! Her words were barbed, and his dormant temper became a little restless. The brooding part of his had been banished when he had mated Tealver. Instead, the casual male had taken over. Eyebrows knitting a little in an unsettled whim, Ed thought it was time he should speak again. She settled against him, her body's weight a little heavier now. Apparently the children were heavy indeed. Delicately prying himself from her lean, he stepped back carefully. The dust of the place had gotten into his lungs, and he felt it irritating him. " Suppress the coughs...Deep breaths. Inhale, one, two, three. Exhale, four, five, six. Inhale... " Lean muscles stretched as he moved silently and expertly forward. The lizard skittered out of the bushes and his heart sped up as the adrenaline entered him. Taking a deep breath, slow and measure, he counted the steps to the creature. A leap could take out the pathetic reptile. But that was what they did in the mountains. " Shall we show the lady how to dance? I think we will... " A mocking smile played on his lips, and he bowed to Tealver. The lizard started at the sudden motion and ran for cover. A slither, a slide, a snap and then the rush of death. It was over. Carrying the still form over to the disgruntled female, he lay it down at her feet.
A small chuff of laughter entered his chest and was released as easily as a puff of smoke from a pipe. Rubbing against her firmly and reassuringly, the prince's steps were as carefully planned as an hunter. Poise, balance, grace. All the things that made him who he was. Resting his head on top of hers, the young man was brought to reality sharply. He had grown quite a lot. Tealver was not a small lioness. She was heavily built with thick muscles and a typical mountainous form. Unusually curvy and very exotic. When they had first met, he had been much taller than her but also much skinnier. To tell the truth, she could've ripped him apart if she could manage to catch him back then. But of late he had broadened out. Now he was not only taller, but more masculine and stauncher. It made him swell with a little pride at the thought. Purring deeply and rasping his tongue over her autumn patterned head, the sable lion murmured gently into her ear. "Nourish learning, Cherish unlearning. Lo, your perfection-cry and your satisfaction-smile are flourishing..." It was no more than a soft hiss in her ear, the purr of love mingling in it. A sweet sound, yet a little sinister. But that was just Ed for you. Everything he said came out shadowy, to a degree.
The embrace was broken, their two entwined bodies that had been one were now two. A small cough had started at the back of his throat. The panic was drowned by prideful thoughts. " I will not bend to the power of my sickness! I will not be weak! " But it was too strong. The stifled coughs, merely looking like he was retching a little into his mouth, evolved into steady rasps. Gasping for air, body now standing with legs wide apart and medium sized frame heaving. The coughs had not come since his meeting with Kato, his half-brother. They had been bad then. They were worse now. The dust entered his mouth as he tried frantically to expel it from his body. It came to him in clouds, wave after wave of the particles seeping into his lungs. A thought struck him in all his terror. How very much like children dust was...It was small and weak, unheeded. But when it banded together it could kill. It was irritating, it got in your face and it would not take 'leave me alone, I'm busy' as an answer. Was that what it was like to be a father?! Anxiety filled him, in the chamber of his heart next to the wild fear that had filled him since the coughing. Blood came. Suddenly and unexpectedly. The viscous liquid poured out of his mouth, eyes squeezed shut in pain. His mouth was stained, paws covered in the liquid. Screaming filled his ears, and he collapsed. The hacking coughs continued, and then were cut off. Pain consumed his entire upper half. Lungs working madly, and throat burning with blood, saliva and bile. The darkness took him.
|ooc deux| : So you're not totally confused, I'll tell you the background. Eddie is the son of Narati and Kalu. Narati was going to be Truth's mate, but Kalu got in the way and raped her as she made her way onto the breeding lands. Truth spared Kalu and decided to comfort the distraught Narati instead. He didn't tell Eddie about his real father, and the prince grew up idolizing Truth. You can imagine what happened when he found out that Truth was not his father. Because of his Oedipus Complex, he was driven mad by Narati's sudden death (aka, Toxic quitting). Since birth he has had an infection in his upper respiratory system. Whenever he gets emotional, he coughs. Sorry if that was really long, I just don't want you to feel confused and left out. verse taken from Sri Chinmoy

Tealver watched intently as she watched her mate pounce on the lizard and bring it over to her. Before she could pick it up and play a rousing game of tag with him he had surprised her with fond emotions. It was emotions that she hadn't felt in so long that roused up into her mind, body, and soul.
Then his words, by god his words.... She was about to make a comment of her own when he started hacking, coughing in terrible fits that just pushed worry to her utmost priority. She went to him, licking the blood away from his face and rubbing against him softly.
"Perhaps the killer of these lands is not a predator but the sand its self... If it is then I believe we must leave before it attacks again." she said softly, worry filling body, mind, and soul. Knowing that she was very stressed out and that stress was not good for the unborn, she tried hard to calm her nerves.
She nuzzled him and spoke once again. "Come love, to the cool waters you shall need. For by the waters the dust is little in existence, a place were breathing is made easy. We can leave these lands soon, before the cubs are born to assure both your safety and theirs." she said softly.
