They walked side by side. A male and a female of the same age. Almost the exact same age. A few minutes lay between them and that was all. They were not mates but they did come from the same pride. They were very close and, even watching them from a distance, you could see they were good friends. But you probably wouldn't guess that they were twins. That meant they had the same mother, the same father, the same genes within their cells, yet they looked completely different.
The male was large and bulky, his form wrapped in thick and well toned muscle. His pelt was pale, more of a sandy colour and his mane was still developing around his broad head, just a shade deeper than his pelt. His moves were quick and silent, and the words warrior were stamped all over him. He was one of those that would like leadership and yet was duty-bound. He would never challenge for it.
His sister, on the other hand, was much smaller. She was a small femme and a great hunter. Like her brother her form was wrapped in thick, well-toned muscle and each step was silent, muscles rippling dangerously beneath her pelt of varying colours. A dark line down the center of her back fading into honey-coloured beauty and a pale, just-yellow underbelly. She was a beauty, young and strong. She was spirited to. Perhaps too spirited. She kept bursting into small runs and then stopping and waiting for her brother to catch up with a smile. Obviously it was because she was excited- they were going to join a pride! A pride with no idiotic mother and it was great!
What's the hurry, Adaeze? Taiwo laughed at his sister. So excited about such a little thing, when would she learn to reserve her energy? Or at least use it for something useful- like hunting. But he couldn't help but smile at her. She was almost always happy and it kind of rubbed off on him, gave him a more positive outlook. What do you think? A pride- without mom! The smaller ran back to her brother, pushing him over and pinning him to the ground, just for him to place one, large paw on her face and extend his leg to remove her.
Just 'cause you're bigger. You don't have to show off- you're male. She never took his tormenting about her size badly. She just joked about it and made strange comments. They came to the border and she smiled, a broad and dashing smile. Taiwo was happy to please her and opened his maw, letting out a low and long roar, calling for the king.
