There was not need to worry, she had Thorn with her. He would protect her. Right....? Of course he would. She knew him well enough now to stop doubting how much he loved her, how much she loved him, and how much he was willing to sacrifice. She would never leave him. Unless...She was afraid she would hurt him. " Face it, gal. You'd hurt him more by leaving than you ever could with your empathy 'problem'. " One side of her said, a little arrogantly. The other faught back. " I know! But...What if he has memories he wants to hide from me? What if...This 'Raine' was really special to him and he doesn't want me to know about her and him? " An inner snort from the pompous voice was accompanied by a retort. " Whatever! That's the past! She's dead. Besides, if he really loves you, he should share everything. " A third voice rang out in the same commanding voice she had used before. " Enough! Everybody is entitled to privacy! Besides, here he comes. You don't want him to know you've been thinking about that again. " Her heat was nearly over, but that didn't mean she was any less vulnerable. She hated being like this. Not being able to take care of herself. Stopping her relentless stride, she turned to see if she still had Thorn with her. A teasing smile was on her lips, and the mischievous spark had returned to her startling gold eyes. He was something else...Unlike any other she would meet.
What they had was special. Their relationship was not a common one, nor was it as complex as the ones her brothers seemed to get themselves into. It was simple, and it could be summed up in one word, which we all know. Skepticism was like air to Sileree, but she didn't feel very skeptical right now. And that was...Fine with her. Which was not a mood she felt very often. A little laugh burbled from her face, and it was bridled in mild mirth. Everything about her was relaxed now. It had not been a few seconds ago, but now it was. She was safe now, and that made her joyous. More than that. Exhilarated and flirtatious. Batting her eyes in mock coyness, Sileree sat down for a moment. The was a slight pain in her paw, and she raised it casually. A few nibbles and a lick was all that was needed to extract a thorn from her pad. Nearly giggling in a giddy fashion at the symbolism of find a 'thorn, of all things prickly and annoying, in her paw; Sileree contained herself. It would not appear dignified to laugh twice. It was simply not done. A small frown creased her forehead. Why did she still care about what was proper and what wasn't? Well, it had been drilled in her so rigorously, as a royal cub, that she would have trouble forgetting it. But she was not a royal cub anymore, she was neither royal nor a baby anymore. But did that mean she had to forget her manners? " No, just stop caring about how you look. " her mind teased. " Like that's ever going to happen... " the other side snapped back. Sileree groomed her paw, thinking that she would probably always care about what others thought. [/blockquote]

He followed her--all the way out of Beseni and into yet another pride's lands, staying close behind all the while. Even though he let her lead, eyes and ears were constantly on the alert for another, not willing to risk her in any way. That he loved her was...undeniable. And that he loved her more than any other was obvious. Yes, even young Raine, whose memory had first caused a rift between them. She had been right, you know. He had spent his life growing up with her, and he loved her dearly...but only as a friend. Just like she said, he only loved what having her would do to his father's thoughts of him. And looking back, he knew now that it would have changed nothing. But he was not thinking of such things right now, and even if he was, he had no idea that his Vixen even knew of Raine. And as such, Thorn was oblivious to the worry it was causing her. In his mind, it was in the past--and since he did not love Raine, it did not need mentioning at the moment. So he walked behind her, blissfully unaware of her thoughts, yet entirely focused on her. He wondered why they were coming to another pride's lands, of all places. If they must be in someone's lands, wouldn't her own pride lands be safest? But she did not think so, and perhaps knew something he didn't.
A grin lit his face when Sileree turned back to him, and it only widened when she laughed. Taking the few steps needed to be next to her, he sat down as well, moving so that he was pressed against her side and looking down on her. He had matured more from his two year old self through the season. Though he had been larger than her before, he had gained the rest of the wiry muscles befitting a rogue male and his once short mane had thickened and lengthened somewhat, though it still remained dark as ever. Upon noticing a frown cross her face, a chuckle sounded in his throat, rumbling in his chest. There's no need for that. Laugh some more--we have reason to be happy. Besides--I like the sound of it. He left it at that, simply happy to be with her. Their relationship was unique. Here they were, a Seductress and a Player, each damned by their own natures to never truly find someone to love them...yet they had found each other--and were perhaps the only ones that could understand the other. The meeting had been unexpected...but he loved it.
Sitting there next to Sileree, the scent of her heat came to Thorn once again, and he couldn't help but wonder if she really wanted cubs. He...rather hoped so, which was strange for him. He had never thought of himself as the father type--but the thought of having children running around was...well...endearing. And as he thought of it, the idea only became more desirable.

Cubs? Well...She had thought of it...But the idea of having little brats running around was both appealing and frightening at the same time. Sileree trusted Thorn not to leave her, but she knew that sometimes fathers grew tired of their children and left simply to get away from the noise. Her father had not, of course, done that. But it was a reality she was not sure she could take. Supposing Thorn did stick around, the main responsibility was on her thin shoulders. Would she be a good mother? She was in heat, so naturally the idea was a little exciting, but...Would it still be once she was pregnant? What if she gave birth to still-borns? Would Thorn despise her for not giving him cubs? And if she did have healthy cubs, but no males...What then? A cloud passed over her face, and she hurriedly put her paw down and looked around for a distraction.
" Why do I question his loyalty and character? I hate that about myself...I never show my true feelings on the outside... " Another voice popped into her head. " It keeps you safe! Why are you still alive?! WE SURVIVED BECAUSE OF ME!! " [/u] Just kidding, Voxxeh had a Gollemish moment there...But why did Sileree continue to doubt her partner? I can't call them lovers, obviously. It was deeply ingrained in her, just like her absurb manners. Looking into Thorn's eyes, she gave him a look. It was a 'please, try to understand. It's not something I have against you' look. " I'm glad you like my laugh. I always though it sounded like somebody neighing and blowing a raspberry at the same time..." She said in a voice that was curiously thick, as if she had a head cold or a bloody nose. Shaking her head and giving an odd little shake, or hopskip the lioness got up and sniffed. Her volatile mood was getting even more unpredictable. " The sooner this heat is over, the better. I hate feeling like a thermometer in Fairbanks..." A little chuckle accompanied her joke. Her sanity was slipping away, despite how hard she was gripping at it. Now her face was showing the strain. She wasn't sure if she wanted to purr and shower Thorn with praise and licks, tell him to beat it, sob wildly into his chest or collapse in a fit of hysterics. |ooc| : I don't play Sileree very well when she's tipsy/insane. Sorry about that xD.[/sub][/blockquote]

He...couldn't despise her for something like that. It would not be her fault, he knew. And though he rather liked the idea of having a son, just daughters would be wonderful as well. He would love them all the same. But...then there was that problem of a home. Sileree had her pride, yes--but how would they react if she came home with children, and maybe him in tow? And he most certainly could not provide a safe (well, as safe as possible) home in the Wilds. He knew that some parents raised their children in such a way, whether out of desire or necessity....but he was not so sure what his feelings on that would be.
He caught the look she gave him and shook his head slightly as she spoke, his own tone one of teasing exasperation when replied. Why is it that women tend to think the worst of themselves when it so obviously not true? An amused and at the same time sympathetic look crossed Thorn's face as she moved about almost haphazardly. The poor guy was not exactly skilled when it came to dealing with women in these moods, as he usually just avoided them. Of course, the men who watched over them made sure he stayed far away...not entirely different from what he was doing at the moment.
Lines of worry creased his face as he saw the signs of distress and strain on her body. His hind end rose from its sit and he took a hesitant step forward, not sure how to deal with this and not even sure if she wanted him around at the moment. He settled for a simple question. Is...there anything I can do? Nearly wincing at the idiocy of the statement, he hoped she would not comment on it. It didn't take a genius to know there was little that could be done--except for, well, that--maybe. In an attempt to cover up that blunder, Thorn tried to move her mind somewhere else. Tell me where you want to go, when this is over. I haven't forgotten that little trip we were talking about last time.

It was, at last, dwindling. Feeling herself come back to normality, Sileree laughed at Thorn's words. "I don't know...I guess most of them don't actually think the worst of themselves, they just say that so that their admirers will have a chance to shower them with pity, love and other silly things." Her voice was a oozing with distaste, but her gaze was merry. She was happier this way, cub-less. For now, anyway. The idea of little ones was still scary to her, but now she was sane it seemed absurd she had even considered it before. Not that she didn't want kids, but now seemed like the wrong time. A sudden, gut-wrenching feeling gripped her. She had nearly broken a Pride rule! How could she have forgotten!? Lothril had always enforced that rule, always drilled it into them.
You must ask the Leaders before breeding with a lion outside the Pride. She could have lied, and said that Thorn was a recent addition to their numbers, Tari or Almira having admitted him. Then she could have whisked the man away before either of the two sisters came back from their posts and denied it. But...That would have taken away some of the credibility she had worked so hard to get. The trust she had worked toward would be lost and that, to her, was an enormous blow. Realizing she was not being very fun, Sileree smiled up at Thorn and licked his cheek tenderly. "I'm fine, but thanks for asking." He asked her where she wanted to go, and she thought about it for a moment. The lioness hadn't really thought of that.
She hadn't been many places, other than Kinamasi, Beseni, Eiroka and Suali. In short, she had been to all the places that the two Prides she had connections with governed over. Looking thoughtful, she turned her eyes to Thorn. He looked a little concerned, and she gave a mock morose face, before tittering and answering him. "I haven't been anywhere that isn't controlled by either Akina or Alethea, so anywhere else is fine. For an ex-loner, I haven't traveled much around here. What about you?" Shrugging her now muscled shoulders, she stretched a little and awaited his reply. Feeling that she really was lucky to have found such a nice lion as Thorn, Sileree pondered the future. Their future.

ooc: I know it's not much--I'm sorry. Lassiel being busy=no muse for anyone.
Thorn's chocolate eyes twinkled as she reached up and he felt her tongue slide across his cheek. She seemed...happier, which was good--though the change had happened quickly and was a bit startling for the dark lion. Something seemed to be on her mind though, and his returned smile held a question in it. But it was forgotten as she faced him. Then we both don't know much about the surrounding lands, it seems. A great yawn overtook him suddenly, and canines showed themselves as his lips pulled back. Shaking his maned head, he gave a lop-sided grin toward Sileree before continuing on. I spent my time in the southern lands though, while I was waiting for you, so I know them pretty well. No, he did not forget his promise to stay nearby, even though he stayed away from Akina pride lands. You can take your pick from those, if you want. Eyes flashing merrily, Thorn rolled his shoulders. Or we could have ourselves a little adventure and go somewhere neither of us has been.
A soft chuckle rumbled in his chest, waiting for her to decide on their course of action. It really did not matter to him one way or the other--as long as she was happy, he would enjoy it. The male was used to traveling, and really was convinced he had seen all that was to be seen in the world--though he would always be happy to be proven wrong on this point. Not in any sort of rush, Thorn stretched out on the ground, head raised and keeping his gaze fixed on his Vixen. Loved her...he loved her, deeply, and he hoped she knew it. Yet for all the great affection in his heart, he knew little of her. And come to think of it...she knew even less about him. That thought clouded his mind for a moment, though it caused no distress. Whatever she wanted to know...he would tell her, as truthfully as he could. There would, no doubt, be some that were difficult...his father and Raine flashed briefly in his mind....but he would not lie to her.
