This wilderness is dark and deep; Promises I have to keep. And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.
Where had the starlight gone? The sky was so dark tonight, the air still and soundless. For Ronan, the lone young male, the night only seemed to correspond with the emptiness inside him. How fitting. The male did not know how many months it had been since his home pride fell apart. The small details of the events were fleeting, but Ronan remembered the murder oh so well...
Chael was dead, killed by Falek, the lover of Chael's heiress. Poor girl. She had nothing to do with the incedent, nothing at all, but the sight of her mate stnading over her father's body must have been heart-wrenching. So much so that she fled the pride, abandoning her ill-wanted duty as queen. The lionesses turned on the murderer, but Falek escaped and was never seen again, to Ronan's knowledge. Without their king, and with their young queen gone, the pride had nothing to hold it together. The cats moved on; mothers took their children, young males took... themselves.
Ronan was little over a year old then, and it had been a year since the pride broke apart. And here he was, as he had been ever since his mother had sent him off. He lived alone, hunted alone, slept alone. Each day he told himself that he didn't need anyone. Or course, there is a thin line between need and want.
As much as he refused to dwell over the past, these were always the things he thought about before falling asleep. Most of all, he remembered Chael's daughter. Vyess. Ronan often wondered what became of her... if she was even still alive. He worried about her, but he was also angry at her. Why had she run? She abandoned her duty, abandoned her pride.
The frustration tired Ronan, so he laid in the tall grass, refusing to think about anything. Rolling onto his back, Ronan gazed up at the dark sky, and sleep overcame him.

A THORN in your SIDE. Do I annoy you? They often looked at him, listened to him, and decided he was nothing more than a despicable rogue who's only purpose consisted of breaking hearts. But thinking such a thing, they didn't really listen, or watch. They did not realize that though he shamelessly flirted with the ladies, he never wished them harm. They did not understand how one could act in such a way, yet still care for those he spoke with.
Of course, maybe the prides were just annoyed with him. Those kings obviously didn't appreciate a young rogue messing with their darling daughters and beautiful huntresses. A smirk turned the corners of Thorn's mouth as he passed over the rocks and grass that littered the area outside of the caves. Those old fools needed to learn to share. Though...the lion had yet to meet a girl who truly perked his interests--well, besides the beautiful Sileree, who was intelligent to boot! I must meet her again. She is one of the few I have met here who is actually worth talking to.
Small mane lay still on his skull and neck, reflecting the dry, still weather. May be hot, but at least it's better than swimming through that damn marsh! Pausing, Thorn's chocolate eyes swept over the land, searching for anything of interest. A satisfied smile crossed his face as his gaze locked on to another lone male who seemed to be enjoying quite the nap. Not for long, my friend. My mother named me rightly, for ever am I an irritating fly buzzing around, a thorn waiting to be plucked.
Easily hopping over stones before entering a lengthier area of grass in which the stranger rested, Thorn's paws made almost no sound as he neared the male, noting that they seemed to be the same age and he had no scent of a pride about him. Deciding to be kinder to one who seemed to be in the same boat as he, Thorn settled on just staring at the male until he woke. Placing his haunches on the ground only a few feet from where the other slept, Thorn focused his gaze on him, and watched.
Good. That is my purpose.

Ronan rarely had unpleasant dreams, and this night was no different. His paws and whiskers twitched as he slumbered, and although Ronan didn't realize, the lion growled and murmured and snored, sometimes rather loudly. But his dreams vanished suddenly and Ronan snapped awake, only to find another male mere yards away from him!
Of course, the sight startled Ronan, and he leaped into the air ungracefully, barely landing on his feet again as he faced the stranger. "...Wha? ...Who?" The young male was obviously groggy; he couldn't even see straight. But his eyes soon adjusted to the darkness, and Ronan realized that the lion in front of him was no older than himself. "What are you doing, watching me like that?" The fact irritated Ronan. Who was this guy, and what did he want? At least Ronan knew that this male meant him no harm. If this guy had intended to kill me, Ronan thought, he would've got me while I was asleep. Ronan sighed. Perhaps he should learn to choose his sleeping areas more carefully.

A THORN in your SIDE. Do I annoy you?A dark eyebrow arched at the rather loud noises coming from the slumbering lion, but Thorn said not a word, choosing instead to bide his time. And it worked out splendidly when the stranger suddenly woke with a few muttered words. He really could not help the half smile at the lion's reaction--the quick stumble to his feet and the question that followed soon after.
Thorn gave a slight shrug of his shoulders before rising to his feet, chocolate gaze flicking over the male before him to quickly size him up--just in case the newly awakened lion did not take well to Thorn's intrusion. Thorn held the same confidence of any young brute, but he was not an idiot and knew if he was outmatched. But there was no need to worry, at the moment. His companion had only asked a question, one which held plenty of merit, considering the current situation.
Deciding to give the other rogue a more complete answer, Thorn finally spoke after a moment of silence, a cocky smile crossing his young face. Just wanted to see how long it would take you to realize another was here. For a moment, his eyes passed over the surrounding features, taking in the area's landmarks even in the dark night. If you're going to sleep that deeply, I'd say pick a spot that is a least a little more sheltered. Thorn turned back to the male, flashing another grin. Loners like us can't afford to be caught unawares. I'm Thorn, by the way. Long tail waved slightly, dark-furred top flicking as he waited for the other's reaction--and hopefully a name. Good. That is my purpose.

ooc| Sorry for the delay. (; And be our guest, Naday.
ic| Thorn, Ronan thought, and odd name for an... odd lion. I suppose it's not so odd, then. Eh, I've heard of stranger names. My great aunt, as a matter of fact. What was her name again...Ronan pulled himself together upon realizing that he had no idea what he was rambling about. It was still very early. Ronan yawned again. He wished he were still asleep, but Thorn's answer satisfied Ronan enough for now. "I thought I was alone." Ronan said, sitting tall and trying to look very dignified. It didn't go over very well, as the morning grogginess made his legs wobble.
But he had no hard feelings toward Thorn. They were both still young, and strange behavior was inborn in young males. Even Ronan could be quite the oddball, given the right circumstances. His eyes remained half-closed as he pondered what to do. "You were very quiet." Ronan replied carelessly, speaking of when Thorn had been watching him. "Come to think of it, I only woke up because I caught your scent." Now it was Ronan's turn to have a little fun. He leaned in a bit closer and breathed deeply, wrinkling his nose afterward. "Hm, yes... buhhh." Ronan shook his mane slightly, as if to rid himself of something purely awful. "I suppose it's best you're a loner. I'm not sure how long you'd last in a large pride smelling like... that. It might make the others sick." Ronan lowered his head, and his voice. "But don't worry. I'm not to judge others by how good... or bad they smell. Name's Ronan, by the way." His lips turned upward in a friendly smile. "Come on, we should find some water. Maybe we can find a meal, too."

Nadayshana walked around and just looked around. Her paws felt the ground. She put her head up and smelled the air. She could smell something. She followed the scent. She jumped when she saw two other lions. Uh-oh She was just a little scared. This was one of her first times around here and, ehh, she was still learning. She started to turn around when she realised that she needed to grow up and get stronger. She walked towards them again and then stopped. Should I? Or not? She stopped and looked up. You know dad. This would be a great time for you to help me. she shook her head. She took a deep breath and continued.
She got closer, and closer. She could start to see what they looked like. while she was walking, she tripped on a rock. That rock hit another rock making a clatter sound. She stopped in her tracks. Oh great. Not the kind of help i needed. She held her breath hoping that the lions didnt notice. But she had a felling that they did.

A THORN in your SIDE. Do I annoy you?Thorn's mouth opened ever so slightly in shock at...Ronan's response. He had not expected the other to respond to him like that. But the moment of surprise quickly passed, and Thorn threw back his head and laughed, the sound loud and confident. Now this was a lion he could get along with! A grin crossed his face, nothing but good humor flashing in his gaze before he lowered his gaze and voice to a more solemn tone. How lucky I am then, to find a noble being, such as yourself, who would accept a poor creature like me.
Eyes flicked upward before a short chuckle burst forth. I believe I will take you up on that offer. Some water would be welcome in this dry weather--and food would not be bad either. He backed up a few steps, bowing his head in a mock respectful way with a slight smile on his lips. Lead the way, O Good Smelling One. I would hate for my horrible stench to chase away the prey.
The loud, unmistakable sound of rocks clattering across each other caused his head to raise sharply, brown eyes narrowed as he searched the darkness. His stiffened muscles quickly relaxed as he caught sight of a young lioness, an almost predatory look crossing his face. Flashing a quick glance toward Ronan, his gaze slid back to the newcomer as he took a few steps nearer. She seemed unsure of herself--maybe a bit frightened--and he had no desire to startle her. Hello! His voice echoed in the cave close to them. You might as well come closer--we can see you, ya know.
Good. That is my purpose.

OOC Thats ok dont worry about it IC Nadayshana heard him speak and and she chuckled a little. I kinda figured that. She got herself back together. She walked to them and stopped in front of them. She was a couple feet away. Didnt want to get to close. Im...Nadayshana. She bowed her head in respect. She was still scared but he looked careless. She put her head down and sighed. Thanks dad. as usual. she picked her head up and smiled a half smile. She thought to herself oh GREAT. i am making such in IDIOT out of myself. I shouldnt have came over
She sat down in front of them. Its not a good idea to sit down in front of two males. But that fall really hurt her paw. She just sat there waiting for them to reply. She looked at both of them. One looked calm adn relaxed and the other one looked mad. She stayed her distance. She didnt want to get caught in the middle of things .

As Thorn laughed, Ronan laughed as well. He had completely overlooked his rude awakening; the lion was glad to have met Thorn. Maybe a travel companion wouldn't be such a bad thing. Two young bachelors against the world, with nothing to lose but their lives. "We are both lucky," Ronan replied, glancing at the healthy grass beneath his paws. "There should be water nearby." As Thorn bowed, Ronan only grinned. He would have spoken, but the lone lioness caught his eye first. Thorn seemed to have noticed her as well. If she was lost or something, Ronan could not just turn her away. If she wanted to walk with them for a while, she was welcome. Ronan stood beside his friend, allowing a small sigh to escape his maw. So much for the two bachelors. Or maybe... a third body would not be so bad. Three could hunt much better than two, and an extra set of eyes was nothing to complain about.
Ronan was getting ahead of himself. Whatever the reason this lioness was wandering alone, he and Thorn would soon find out. Ronan smiled, not wanting to appear cross. Many a time had pretty lionesses taken one look at Ronan only to turn the other way. It was the scar, he knew. The long pink line extending from one cheek across his nose to the other. Long had it been healed, but no fur grew to hide it. The smile faded from his face as Ronan took a quick glance at his friend. Thorn was the more handsome of the two, and Ronan couldn't deny it. His own fur was pale, and his mane was oddly curly, while Thorn's fur was dark and rich. These thoughts surprised Ronan. Was he actually jealous of Thorn? Buh! In truth, the female's mere presence made Ronan feel self-conscious. He knew it was true, but he dared not admit it.
The nervous-looking female spoke her name. Nadayshana. The name was strange to Ronan, very exotic. The golden lion thought it only fit to give his own name. "You don't need to worry about us," he said with a smile. "I'm called Ronan." He thought to introduce Thorn as well, but thought better. Thorn needed no introduction.

Nadayashana looked at Ronan. Thats a really cool name. I dont like my name at all. she felt stupid saying that but she had to get it out. I am new around here. And my parents left and i have no one. So i was just wondering about. Ok maybe getting along track. Umm...do you guys know where i am?? And im sorry if i am talking alot. i havent talked alot for the past 4 weeks that i have been there.
She just sat there. I feel so stupid she said low making sure that they didnt hear her. She looked at them. Ronan had a really nice scar on his nose. The other lion looked good but she wasnt attracted to lions that thought they were all that. Hey Ronan, how did you get that scar? I have one to. Nadayshana had one that ran from the bottom of her leg to the bottom of her cheek. Her fur hid it a little bit but you can see it. She got that by a hyena attacking her. Know she felt REALLY stupid. Ok i am going to stop talking anow... she wanted to die! She made a fool of herself infront of such a handsome lion named Ronan.

Thorn quirked an eyebrow as he listened to Nadayshana speak, the amount she was saying perhaps influenced by nerves. A wicked gleam came to his chocolate eyes. But then again, it did seem as if she was taking a liking to Ronan... Noticing a slight lull in the rather one-sided conversation, Thorn took that moment to let his good-humored voice heard. Oh, don't worry about me--I'll just stand over here all forgotten. The twinkle in his gaze and smile pulling at his muzzle was hopefully enough to let the others know he wasn't at all offended.
Dark head lowered in a small bow, his short mane still somehow managing to get in his eyes as they stayed lifted toward the lioness. I am Thorn, beautiful lady. By name and by nature. His voice held a purposeful gallant tone to it and he flashed a quick glance toward Ronan, as if daring his companion to outdo him. I wager though, that she will take anything he says much better than anything I say. The thought did not bother him, and instead only added to the fun this night would hold for him. There was a reason prides disliked him so, why kings chased him away as soon as they realized he spent his time flirting with their daughters.
ooc: Sorry guys, my muse is dead right now.

Nadayshana laughed laughed. Oh well hello there Thorn. Dont worry i wont leave you out. She bowed her head saying hi to Thorn. She did think they were both handsome. She had to talk to both of them to know them better. Trust me i am not that beautiful. she laughed. She looked at them. Her tail flickered in the air from the wind. dark blue eyes hit the sun in the right way and they twinkled.
She sat there and looked at them. So what exactly are two lions like you, doin way out here? she sounded corny but she had nothing really to say. And did i interupt something when i came. If i did, im really sorry. She looked at them, and put her sorry face on. She wanted to make sure she made a good impression. She needs some friends. She cant run away from fear forever. She sat there waiting for an answer. She settled this in her head.
They are both cute. They are both nice. She wouldnt decide whos better until she gets to know them. Right now she needed friends and they were nice. And she was attacked by hyenas so she also needed someone to help her along the way. But only when they were with her. If they even like her. She doubted they did. Probably thinking. Well shes annoying. Can she leave now. Uh i just wanna go. She sat there and looked as innocent as possible.
