The land was dying. The world was changing. The animals where running.
Humans had destroyed the world that they had come to know and love. The air was filled with chemicals, and the water was not safe to drink. The humans where warring with each other, and did not care about the animals any more. Horses where set free, or left to die.
But horses where smarter that man thought. They all joined together in a great herd, and set off across the barren lands looking for a place to call home. Many died of dehydration and starvation. But when it seemed all hope was lost, on one foggy morning, they found a land bridge. The land bridge was just under the surface of the ocean, so the humans had thought that it was nothing more than water. But the horses started to trek across it, with hope in their hearts.
The Bridge led them to a series of islands. Here the sky could be seen, and the grass grew tall and green. For a short period of time they drank and rested, but the paradise was more than what it seemed.
As the world they had left died behind them, the world they had found flourished around them. The Bridge broke with the dying of the world they had left. But not without allowing a small number of other mammals and birds to the island. A small handful of predators came, wolves, coyotes, pumas, but so did deer, falcons, eagles, and fish.
The horses named the land Sonofar.
Soon changes started to happen to the horses. Some of them grew horns, or wings. Some became different colors. Others still became shadows that could turn invisible. Some grew the tails of fish, and went to the sea.
This caused a separation of races. Gradors became the ones that had changed so dramatically that they no longer appeared all horse. Aves became the ones of great strength and beauty. But there was one more race to be shunned. The Shadowed Ones. These horses looked different from all of the others. Some where shadows. Some had bat wings. Some had flamming manes and tails. These horses wanted to live among the other ones, but the others feared them and tried to hurt them.
The horses claimed the three largest of the islands for each race. Each was split up among the stallions of The Three Great Races. Sonofar was divided. Are the horses any different from humans? Can they live in peace?
