Rayen lay leisurely several hundred feet off the banks of the Iarox. Truly this was Rayen's favorite place to be. She loved the crystal waters and could safely say she knew every inch of the territory. She traveled it often, it was fun to explore the area around the river. More so she loved to swim in the river. The waters she loved so dearly were receding and the flow was so soft that even at this close range Rayen could barely hear it flowing unsteadily. It looked so tiny in the tracks made for a much bigger river.
She sighed softly resting her head on her front paws. Oh how she longed for the wet season. In the wet season she'd be running through the calm edges of the hasty water. Now it was all mud, just mud and more mud. There isn't anything enjoyable about mud...it's just mud. It gets stuck to the coat and Rayen took pride in her golden coat. Even now it gleamed beneath the radiant sunlight. Wading through the mud wasn't worth the reward of the shallow water near the center. She glared up at the sky for a second before returning her gaze to her beloved Iarox. She clicked her tongue against her teeth absentmindedly.
She guessed that there was still awhile until the precious rain would fall and for now she would wait, impatiently. A bigger issue pressed against her mind. She wasn't hungry nor was she thirsty, she'd been asleep all day. It wasn't even too dreadfully hot. The day was open to whatever Rayen wanted to do but right now Rayen was desperately bored. She lifted her head, golden eyes swept the horizon...but nothing. Nothing of interest. She sighed again and rearranged her body. She was fidgety to say the least. She allowed herself to smile, what kind of lioness couldn't stand to be alone? It was something Rayen had trouble with and her annoyance showed visibly as she moved into a sitting position. Her tail danced eagerly behind her.
"I hate being bored." she thought.
