Carrion II Changing lives He turned four at exactly the moment his pads hit the lands of the Akina pride. That's 1460 days, 35040 hours, 21024000 minutes or 126144000 seconds. For him it seemed unbelievable, had he really managed to grace four?
He was a nice enough lion, alright, but he didn't have a home. He needed somewhere where he could feel at home, somewhere that he could relax. In all honesty his desire was to rule, but he knew that might not happen straight away. Still, it did not escape his notice when he first graced the lands that they lacked the scent of a king.
He didn't like the rain, but he didn't hate it like some cats, he found it refreshing after the long hot months without rain. Of course, the rains would bring more with them than just cool, they would bring back the plants and, with those, the prey.
His stomach growled at the thought- how he longed to taste the flesh of a fresh kill, to dig his fangs into the still-bleeding carcass. He didn't care if he had to ill it himself, he'd been alone for 3 years, he just wanted to eat. Of course, being male, he preferred it when the fod was caught from him.
He shook his unmaned head and yawned, it had been a long day of travelling and as he walked he had felt himself growing weary. He looked at the skies and a smile crept upon his features, the rain was such a gift at times like these, but still- he wished to join the pride before night fell and so he roared, announcing his presence to the pride. It was getting late and she was traveling the marsh alone. Not that such an idea frightened her--no, far from it. She was the Queen of this land, having lived here for nearly three years, and no sight or sound would frighten her. Not even the roar of the strange male brought terror to her veins. She was well aware of the danger rogues could pose, but her confidence came from dealing with them in the past--both the good and bad--and knowing she had an entire pride's strength behind her. With a calm, yet quick stride, Lothril found the newcomer easily enough. She emerged from the reedy grass, head high and holding a look that warned against trying anything tricky against her. He was larger than her, of course, and medium gold fur covered his muscled body. However the scar that littered his form instantly put the Queen on her guard. The ones that ran across his back were rather normal for any loner--but his face was definitely was not the norm. To have gained such wounds obviously spoke of one who spent time fighting. And if his heart was not that of a kind lion, it could very well spell trouble for the Akina.
Lothril halted a few steps from, settling to the ground in a way that encouraged conversation but refraining from lowering her defenses. Past mistakes of judging others too quickly took hold, and she resolutely tried to keep from jumping to conclusions. Yes, the scars could have been gained from looking for fights, but they also could have been gained in defense. I must not make the same mistake I made last time. Good evening. The words were quiet, but not meek. You have stepped into Akina lands, and I must ask what your business here is. She took a firm tone, showing she did intend to have answer, but nothing threatening laced the statement--simply a need to know what a stranger was doing in her lands. She then dipped her head in a respectful greeting. I am the Akina Queen, Lothril.

Carrion II Noble defender Brute was hungry, and getting tired. He'd travelled throughout the day, even the hottest time. He had padded through many lands, searching for a home that suited him, which his how he heard of the Akina- they were a kind hearted group with no king. As much as he was inexperienced at actually leading, he had been shown the basic ropes, and his generally kind and laid back attitude meant he would suit the group. Eyes glinted in the setting sun and she shook his head, droplets of rain splashing away from it. His tongue scraped across his mug and he sighed.
The rain meant that scents were difficult to catch for all he could smell was the rain. He had no way to detect other lions except his sight and hearing, but both were effected by the rain to- he could hear rain splashing and rain impeded his vision. Growl caught in his throat- he hated the lack of being prepared, he wanted to be ready to fight should the need arise.
He saw her before he smelt her, and tilted his head to one side, curious. He didn't want to appear intimidating, but knew that such a wish being granted was impossible- his scars saw to that, especially those across his face.
If a human had to compare him to a movie character, based on looks, he would probably be likened to the phantom in The Phantom of the Opera because of his scars. However, he had acquired them, not been born with them, and his personality was soft and friendly, not murderous unless defending that which he loved.
"Good evening, I am Carrion II and I am searching for a home in which I may settle with a pride. I miss the life I shared with others, and hope I can find the kindness I once knew within the ranks, m'lady." his head bowed in respect for the queen- it was through her he would find acceptance, and only through acceptance would he find happiness. Another wished to join the Akina? The pride was doing well with recruits, and she briefly wondered if the other prides around her were doing even half as well. It was not in her to turn away one who wished for a home, so long as they would cause no problems for the Akina and their land. But part of her was worried about the repercussions of having males as a part of the group without having a king to keep them in line. Granted, Deimos had been welcomed in--but that was partly an attempt on her part to make up for past mistakes. And speaking of Deimos, how would the former Akina king react to another male? Of course, he no longer held any such power, but still....the thought needed consideration, if only for the sake of keeping the peace among pride members.
The Queen was silent for a few moments, quietly appraising the one before her. The lion looked tired, hungry.....and wet. Of course, her fur was drenched as well, considering the rain falling around them. Not the best time to be traveling, perhaps, but she had her duties--one of which was studying newcomers. Carrion seemed polite enough, and sincere. Perhaps the scars across his face belied his true nature. And hope I can find the kindness I once knew within the ranks. The words echoed in her mind, and she nodded briefly, as if answering her own question.
Watching him with a deep amber gaze, she spoke again. I am not against you joining, but would you mind joining me on a quick hunt? A slight smile accompanied her next words. You look like you could use some food, and though I wouldn't be against finding you something when you seem so tired, I fear there is little out in this rain. Though she had not officially welcomed him, the hunt was not some sort of test. Instead, it was something to get to know him better. I did see, however, a small gathering of buffalo not far from here. They are rather large and fierce--and I am but one lioness. But with you helping, we may be able to take one. Her voice quieted as she waited for his answer. He was, undoubtably, the stronger of the two. And while she had plenty of experience to hunt this dangerous prey, the fact remained that she was smaller. It often required three of her pride, at the very least, to take an adult down. However, with Carrion's greater strength she felt that had a chance of killing one--even if there were only two of them.
