The tan fur shone gold under the sun. Today wasn't murky as the days usually were during the rainy season, and he was grateful for it. His dark, heavy mane hung heavily on his neck, drawing in the heat. The heat on his neck made him uncomfortable, but it was the price to pay for being strong and healthy. Giant paws spread out as they impacted the ground, moving the lion to nowhere in particular. Head held low, he resisted the urge to hunt. He would not make himself a threat to whatever pride had claimed the land. He had scented a few lions when he'd entered the land. He knew he was walking on dangeous ground, but he hoped the pride would know he did not pose a threat to them.
His jaws parted and he panted slowly as he padded over the land. His ears flicked back and forth, listening through the thick mane for any sound that might warn him of another cat. He'd come from the place he'd called home for quite a while. It had been one of those times when he switched directions waht seemed like randomly. He didn't know what drew him here, but he was all about instincts, and he would follow the impulses. And now his instincts told him this was where he needed to be, for one reason or another.
He had no idea how to navigate the lands, especially with no apparent path that was used very often. He stopped at one of the many streams that ran through the land, and crouched to drink. He lapped up the rain-water gratefully, glancing around, still cautious about being in a pride's territory.

TARi \\. PRiNCESS OF THE AKiNA - - x The sun was beating down on the savanna. It was hot, but her fur still kept the tan silhouette somewhat cool. The females jaws were parted, tasting the air for any scents. It was the wet season, and she was thankful. A long banner with a soft clump of fur on the end swayed gently back and forth. Drawing in a deep breath of air, she closed her eyes, and stopped walking for a moment. The large cat exhaled quiet loudly. She was bored- and needed something interesting to do. And she had just done that- she had come out another day to explore the lands of the Akina. With a small smile, the lioness opened one of her eyes. Shrubs seemed to dot the land- and she found it quiet annoying. Too bad there couldn't be anything more prettier to look at instead of sand, shrubs, and dead things. But, where she lived was still beautiful. Life could be found everywhere. Wildebeasts roamed the land, Hyenas were scavaging around here and there, giraffes could be found eating acacia leaves, or even elephants just wandering around. Opening her other eye, she pushed her way past a small shrub, and into a large opening.
Her olive-green optics flickered back and forth from tree, to bush, to.. Wait a minute.. Drawing her head up high, and peered closer, she realized that there was a male lion in her pride's land. The Akina didn't really attack outsiders on site, but rather asked questions. Her auds flicked back and forth, deciding weather or not to approach the male. But what if he was a total brute...a bastard? No. She lowered her head slightly and shook it. He didn't look as if he were the one to start trouble- he looked as if he were just passing through. She flicked her harks forward and bounded to ward him, almost tripping on a small rock. When she was in a close enough range, yet a safe distance away, she sniffed him. Indeed..he isn't from around here.. Lowering her head, her harks flicked back with curiousity. "Who are you? And what is your purpose in Akina's lands?" Shaking her head, her stomach jiggled slightly and her ears slapped against her skull. A cold shiver, but it was gone now. She lifted her head up again, and looked at him and then to the surface of the water. He lowered his head to drink, the waves rippled to the edges of the small rain-pool. It was running rather slowly, but it was still good to drink. She herself also crouched down by the small river, and began to lap at the water, almost letting all of her guard down to this male. He didn't seem to be a threat- well..at least not yet.

The lion flicked his ears backward as he heard the sound of paws behind him. He turned his head to see the young lioness coming closer, and stopping to smell. He waved his tail in greeting as he lapped at the water. Her question was what he would expect if a pride did not attack first, and he would answer it willingly. He glanced sideways as she drank as well, and brought his head up. Swiping his tongue over his lips, he regarded her carefully. She was pretty, but such thoughts were thrown out of his head immediately.
He dipped his big head, and pricked his ears to her. "I am Ekwueme, and I apologize for tresspassing. I honestly don't know why I'm here, but here I am." He sat up from his crouch and looked down at her with warm golden eyes. He shook his black mane, almost wishing that he was young again with a shorter mane, but time could not move backwards, and he knew it. Granted, he still wasn't as old as he sometimes liked to think, at only three years, but he could anyone into thinking he was five with the long, black mane.
He looked around. The Akina pridelands. All the prides were smaller now, but the scents he'd found told him there were plenty of lions to populate the area, and that this probably wasn't the home of the pride, but property. He sighed. A pride like this would not last without a male to run it, but there was sure to be a queen to take all responcibility. He wondered why the queen herself had not met him here, but there was probably plenty to do.
His attention went back to the young female, possibly only a year or so younger than he was. He wondered if she would give her name, but figured he would have to ask. Hesitantly, he did. "If I might ask, what is your name?"
Comments: Omahgod, this is probably so messed up. I can't even remember how old he is, but I think it's three. Anyway, it's complete.

TARi \\. PRiNCESS OF THE AKiNA - - x Swaying her banner back and forth, she drew her head up higher, gazing at the sky. Her pale pools of olive-green stared blankly at the birds that seemed to flutter across the sky carelessly. Letting out a sigh, she bent her head back down and changed her gaze back to the male- darker tan skin with a heavy black mane. Oh how she could guess the heat that thing attracted. Shaking the thoughts away from her head, she looked to her paws, and pushed herself up on all fours, and her shoulders twitched slightly as the flies buzzed around her small frame. Attempting to swat at the flies, his voice echoed in her small, rounded harks. I am Ekwueme, and I apologize for tresspassing. I honestly don't know why I'm here, but here I am. Interesting. He didn't know why he was here, and he didn't sound like he wanted to attack the Akina. With a slight smile creasing her maw, her tone softened a bit more. "Well, this is a part of the Akina territory. And I don't mind so much that you are here- as long as your are not stealing our food." She glanced down at the water's surface, and looked at herself. Sighing again, she seated herself on the sandy ground.
Tilted her head slightly, she looked at him, almost out of the corner of her eye. He looked as though to be around five or six, but she knew well that her mind could be tricked. Perhaps he was two? No..three? Four? No. Too old. Looking forward again, she gazed out over the savanna. A claw graced the ground, making a smooth mark in the sand. Her tail curled up beside her, and flexed her paws. Today wouldn't be a good day to bask in the sun, but she still thought about it at this moment- the nice feeling of resting with her eyes shut. She enjoyed it, but exploring was more important right now, let alone getting to know this male that had just arrived on the Akina territory. Jaws parting again to let out a panting noise, she let out a small sneeze.
Almost as if thinking the same as him, Tari closed her eyes for a moments time. Sure, he mother was a good pride leader- for the moment- but maybe it was time to find a male to lead the pride. Maybe it would be a good idea to remember him, or even take him back to the queen, after she had gotten to know him well first. Her harks flicked gently as another question hit her ears. If I might ask, what is your name? Her name? Of course! "My name? My name would be Tari. My mother is the queen of these parts..and.. It is nice to meet you, Ekwueme." He was large and healthy, but she had guessed that he was probably hungry. Clearing her throat to speak again, she thought it through her mind quickly. Surely her mother and sister wouldn't mind.. "You're hungry, arn't you? I'm sure my mother and sister wouldn't mind if you had something to eat."

Ekwueme dipped his head as she told her name. But as she told her status in the pride he stared at her, bewildered. She was princess? Her mother the current queen, her sister heiress? But she seemed so... relaxed, like she could care less about running the pride herself. He would have loved to be a King, if he could get his paws on the position, but this princess was different. Perhaps she was just used to following her sister's or mother's lead, and was perfectly accustomed to that role. Or maybe she was more interested in what was around her than being Queen or heiress.
The male blinked and shook the black mane that hung about his neck. "A pleasure to meet you as well, Tari." He watched her for a moment, and then looked around. There were many streams, and he could swear he saw a herd of elephants in the distance. The sight of potential prey made him realize he hadn't eaten since he'd left the 'maze'. He hadn't had time to hunt. He tore his gaze away as the princess spoke again. He gave a half smile.
But he hesitated. What could be worse than someone finding her with an outside male, offering prey caught on Akina lands? But he was hungry, and he wouldn't be able to pass a meal up. He wondered if it would cause trouble, or if the queen would not mind simply because he was with her daughter? "If you don't think anyone would mind, yes, I am rather hungry."
Comments: I'm so low on muse, but I did it! Yay! Anyway, it's complete.
